Upcoming Book Group Events

What: After a holiday recess, our Book Group will meet in January for a discussion on VOX by Christina Dalcher. Vox is set in America where half the population has been silenced. The story follows Jean, a former researcher who resents the new dystopian America where women are allowed to speak only 100 words per day in an attempt to restore “tradition” and female domesticity to society. When government officials pay Jean a visit, her life is upturned yet again.
When: Sunday, January 13th, 2019
Where: Elaine's Coffee Call, 1816 N. Clark St. in Chicago IL, 60614
Time: 1:00 p.m.
To Learn More: Please join us to discuss VOX over La Colombe coffee and yummy pastries! To confirm your attendance, please e-mail Lauren Howard at lhoward@bu.edu.

As always, we love to share a good read at a local coffee shop, a girls night out, or over wine and a pot-luck dinner. Please email Lauren Howard at llhoward@bu.edu if you'd be interested in joining, hosting a discussion, have a book or podcast suggestion, or any questions. You're always welcome to join our Book Group even if you haven't read the book!

Our Most Recent Book Group Events

In November, the Book Group discussed The Incendiaries by R.O. Kwon, at the Next Door Cafe, Chicago. The novel is about an American college student who gets wrapped up in a cult with ties to North Korea.

October's book discussion was The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. Both funny and heartbreaking, the novel follows Charlie, a pregnant American college student, and Eve, a reclusive Londoner, who embark on a mission to find Charlie's cousin who went missing during World War II. The Alice Network has been both a New York Times and USA Today's best seller!

In September, we gathered at Colectivo Coffee in the city for a lively discussion about Less by Andrew Sean Greer. Less follows a failed novelist on his ill-fated journey around the world as he tries to escape his past by living in the present.
